Economic Empowerment of Srebrenica

The main objective of the Economic Empowerment of Srebrenica project was to create better opportunities for the youth of Srebrenica and the surrounding region by supporting market orientated skill development and innovative business ideas.

The project has been implemented by Kolektiv (Posao.ba) in partnership with the Srebrenica Municipality and the Friends of Srebrenica Association. The government of the United Kingdom has generously lent its support as well.

The project was initiated in February, 2015 with a report on the youth and current economic situation in Srebrenica. Based on this research, the project was planned and implemented from April, 2015 to March, 2016. The result of these interventions was the creation of 80 jobs, the birth of six start-up companies, and the continuing education of 70 young people.

Through the Economic Empowerment of Srebrenica project, we launched a business centre that serves as a place for education, business development, and information for the unemployed. This modern, multi-function space is a critical part of our support for start-up companies, allowing them easy to access office space while encourage networking.
